This is the real issue - classism in Public Service
« on: October 13, 2016, 07:03:03 PM »
While some earn 1million plus, others barely earn 10k. This is the only way to bring inflation down and stop borrowing to pay salaries. Why does an MCA need 250k plus/month in rural areas? That is a lot of cash!!! Some argue that its campaign money, crap!!

At the risk of sounding redundant.  Devolution should also permit counties to determine what their public servants are going to earn.  There should be no standard determined from the center on this issue.  Let the counties decide.

Absolutely..
Maybe develop a formular based on poverty rate.
Some of these people earn more than most USA governors, leaving no money for infrastructure development.

Ain't gonna happen.

When the British Overlords were kicked out, they were replaced by local Overlords. 50 odd years down the line, we think it's our right to be Overlords the minute we get into a position of power.

Ababu is campaigning.

This is an issue now?    Where was Abubu back in 2013 when they wouldn't even lift a finger without more money?     And they will now vote to go back?

In terms of legislators' pay relative to GDP per capita, Kenya has few competitors.    Except perhaps for Nigeria, which Kenya emulates in many other ways:

And Nigeria's economy is currently stagnant. Kenya is on the way there too. All moneies go to pay salaries. Ans then they borrow for projects.
