Kipchoge Keino
« on: August 29, 2016, 02:02:59 PM »
How true is his claim of Kenya being banned if he is arrested?  It is patently false.

The man is saying IOC will protect its members from criminal prosecution.  Unmitigated nonsense of course.

The only reason he won't be touched is because he has doing nothing out of the ordinary in Kenya.  He has merely abused his office.

Wario has paid bloggers, MPs and Journalists to turn on Kipchoge and NOCK. Kip is not a thief nor corrupt. He has enough from the IOC to treat NOCK peanuts with disdain. I know the guy personally.

That said, he trusted certain people in NOCK and they have let him down.

Wario has no right to throw stones. He took joy riders with him to Rio as did many ministry officials. USD 10, 000 allowance per week is way to high. He paid it out.

The minister has as much responsibility as NOCK to ensure the money is managed properly. When he gives such colossal sums in addition to booking hotels etc, he should know what it means.

The pillorying of Kipchoge especially on social media is gut wrenching. I know a prophet is never loved in his own village but we are tasking it too far. Uhuru should have invited Kip for tea and discussed with him how to fix NOCK.

Kip has probably 600 children most of whom he adopted and brought up. How do they feel when their father is being threatened with arrest?

The arrests and disbanding of NOCK are meant to end decades- old tenures of Kipchoge's club. Wario should bug off along with the NOCK lot. Too many failures.

It would be more persuasive if Kipchoge argued for his innocence.  All I am seeing is threats about Kenya missing Olympics.  Does being global icon put one above Kenyan law?  Wario might be a philanderer and a drunkard for all we know.  But should he take the hit for Kip just because the man is a global icon?

Why can't he argue for his innocence?  What has his 600 orphans got to do with anything?

Termie

Please do not underestimate the nuisance a Kangaroo court can cause. Your argument is kafkaesque to the full stop. An innocent man picked for persecution and subjected to a show trial being asked to believe in the Kangaroo process and offer his defense?

I haven't seen what Kipchoge did wrong. The guy received a olympic laurel medal in Rio.There seem to have been administrative issues that should be sorted out btw ministry of sports & NOCK. Doesn't warrant harrassing a 76yr old global hero.Kipchoge deserve to be cut some slack. He has done so much for althetics for more than 50yrs now.

And we should not risk IOC banning kenya for going against NOCK.

All I am arguing for is a fair application of the law.  I have nothing against Kipchoge the man.  But if it can be shown he did something illegal, justice should not hesitate because he is Kipchoge.  Of course even he did something crazy, my hunch is he won't be bothered, because it's just not the way such things work out in Kenya.

I am a stickler for justice and you know this after how many years? can't count

BUT Kip is being fixed.

It started with a harmless meme on twitter about Kip being as old as NOCK. Then these scandal started and the focus was on Wario. He comes back and starts to fight back. He invites certain bloggers (the commercial malaya on KOT) to a closed door meeting and when they re-emerge, their pockets are bulging and new hashtags focusing on demonising Kip are trending.

Now I know how it works so do you. We have seen many Kangaroo processes in Kenya. Why subject a Kenyan icon to a kangaroo process just so you can get somebody from North Eastern to run it? I am not for targeting innocent people so that they can prove they are innocent.

The law as it is requires evidence exist disclosing the name of the offender and the offense. The stupidity being perpetuated by the courts in Kenya at the behest of the police where people are held "while police complete investigations" must end. No person's freedom shall be taken away or interrupted on the basis of a doubt about the person's innocence. Indeed most decent countries accept that every doubt shall be in favor of the accused person. Here every doubt - including insufficient evidence - favors the police and prosecutor.

We have a situation where the police force people to write statements despite the Bill of Rights. They have a right to interrogate witnesses. Should the witness opt not to say anything, that should end it and other methods found to illuminate the case.

Why subject Kip to such degrading treatment?

I stick with the Assassin. Omollo your points are valid on the bizarre wonts of our justice system. That is separate from Keino and Wario and NOCK failures. They are separate debates let us not obfuscate. I think NOCK officials have overstayed in office; they should vacate. If court cases will get them to do so I am for it given their excess autonomy. They should bail while their grand profiles are intact.

Many athletes complained openly about mistreatment, misplanning, missed flights, etc. If Wario is the one responsible am sure Keino is liquid enough to hire Khaminwa. He can explain his infinite mandate while at it.

Does heroism excuse failure?

It's a shame really.  Heck, they even stole their warm up and training kits.

None of those things you and Termie write applies. I have seen through the shenanigans of Wario to buy his used crap

I have lived among my Kenyans long enough to know that sometimes they go after something someone else is holding. They never declare their true intentions.

The day Kip quits NOCK and some Borana or Somali is in place is the day all corruption allegations will vanish. Here are some examples:
1. What happened to PLO Lumumba after he quit? Any charges?
2. What happened to Matemu after he quit? Any charges?
3. Waiguru is about to become Governor controlling a multi-billion budget, is she not?

I have not even cited the best examples. When they make calls of resignation and stage show trials, the entire purpose is to get the man's job. They envy the corrupt opportunities that the position confers. Hence they have no motivation to pursue the high sounding values they pretend to prosecute.

My problem here is that I know for a fact that Wario wants Kip's post just like Uhuru wanted Matemu's. Should Kenyans be subjected to all this melodrama whenever some politician gets an itch?

Termie, tell me what went more wrong in Rio than London?

Nyamweya was arrested on high orders (Uhuru) over harambee stars. How far has the case come?

I agreed with Omtata when he obtained orders against EACC mandarins. Read his affidavit and pleadings to understand where this is going.

Yes, a National Hero has to be treated with special gloves stored far out of the reach of riff raff like Wario.

The surest way to ruin athletics in this country is to embark of the removal of its top brass on the basis of undeclared ethnic hate. There is money in it but it requires commitment some bedouin will not manage to contribute.

I don't know what happened in London.  Maybe the same thing.  For all we know, Kipchoge Keino could be innocent.  My beef is the he is an icon, so don't touch him mentality.  That tells me he has been in that position for so long, it's gotten into his head.  As a matter of fact, there are more accomplished Kenyan athletes than Kip Keino and that includes Ezekiel Kemboi the joker.  And the Kembois have done it an era of stiff competition when others had woken up.  When Kipchoge did it, a lot of potentials in RV had no clue they could run at a world class level.
