Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi on Saturday revealed that he regretted partnering with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) without signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Speaking in Meru, Linturi noted that he was in the same boat with ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and noted that he regretted working with President William Ruto in 2022 in his quest to woo voters.

He revealed that the two did not seriously consider an agreement and decided to base their union on trust, which has proven them wrong costing both of them their jobs.

The visibly angry politician, as a result, warned the incoming DP Kithure Kindiki to avoid falling into similar folly urging him to consider signing an agreement with President Ruto before taking an oath. Kindiki is awaiting to be sworn in next week.

“Today I regret that when everybody else was negotiating using a political party and signing agreements, Gachagua and I said no, let us proceed because we believe and trust you (President Ruto),” he stated in retrospect.

The former CS played a critical role in mobilising support for Ruto in Meru. “We have worked so hard, and the only thing I regret is we did not negotiate using a political party signing agreements,” he lamented.

The former Agriculture CS, implicated in a fake fertiliser scandal, was dismissed when President Ruto fired his entire Cabinet following Gen Z protests over the unpopular Finance Bill 2024.

“You know I am jobless. I can tell you for free and without any fear that when you are making negotiations, you come out stronger, better and you are not easily targeted,” he stated.

Linturi further cautioned politicians to avoid rushing into working partnerships solely on trust and ‘truth’ which he noted should be taken with a pinch of salt.

"This word truthful has caused a lot of problems in this country and it has really messed up some of us for being truthful. If you are a truthful person, you are condemned like a drug peddler. For how long shall we continue living in denial?” he posed.

Linturi explained that the lack of an agreement before the formation of UDA made it easy to oust Rigathi Gachagua. He observed if had he had an agreement, probably things would have played out differently.

At the same time, Linturi intimated to vie for governorship in the next general elections. He however did not mention which party he is going to vie with.

Indeed they help , evidenced by Jubilee 1 (URP TNA) and Jubilee 2.
TNA had its Mps loyal to Uhuru and URP had its MpS loyal to Ruto any misdeed Uhuru could have done in Jubilee 1 Ruto could have turned to ODM and vice versa .
Jubilee 2 all Mps with exception of a few were loyal fo Uhuru same with UDA now all except a few are loyal to Ruto . Reason why Tuto was sidelined in Jubilee 2 and now they managed to impeach Gachagua .
Once agreements are delivered to Registrar of parties the binding . This was inteoduced in Kenyan Law to avert a repeat of NARC MOU.
