Basically it is a 2019 redux. Trump recognized Juan Guido as the election 'winner' - but Juan Guido had to flee to New York. They attempted to use force akin to Ukraine Maidan coup but Russia rushed commando units there to boost Maduro.

This is just the latest battlefront West vs East. China-Russia seem keen to pee on the Monroe Doctrine nonsense. Most LatAm counties are naturally anti-imperialism so odds are starked against the West.
