Folks are seeing these through the tribal lens, as always; Gachagua has no issue with 95% of Rift MPS. Brain-dead Sudi and demented Farouk are the only folks I hear bad-mouth DP. Conversely, most Mountain MPS (90%) are in a Cold War fight with Gachagua; I don't know for what purpose, but it is a supremacy/Kingpinship battle. Kimani, Ndindi, and Waiguru have their camps of MPs slowly undermining DP because they still don't like or want to work with Gachagua. When Gachagua was chosen as DP, most of them were furious. I guess they know he was old school and quick to go tribal (our people talk), contrary to what UDA Mps have been mentored to maintain a national outlook! Time will tell, but Gachagua wants to be Kingpin by force and is taking longer than anticipated. If I were him, I'd rarely step into the Mountain or meddle with its politics. I'd instead build networks slowly in Coast, Western, RV, and other parts through church groups, fundraising, alcohol abuse campaigns, the rule of law, etc. Mountain should be the last place because folks will fall in line quicker once they know you have support elsewhere. Other Mountaineers who want to have clout have seen his weakness and want to frustrate him and hopefully see him make more mistakes that will make him look worse, so in the event a kingpin battle becomes real, it would be easy to topple him once he falls out with a significant chunk of central voters. Also, after the UDA finance bill passes and the money starts rolling through the economy, a lot will change in 2025 and beyond. Gachagua will take credit for the "You see, we delivered" campaign. It will be hard to decouple him from people at that time, so they are taking the fight to him early. As they say, Mapema is the best in Kenya.
