Kadame,
Asante, this is stale news. Mama Ngina was linked to poaching back in the 70s.

In 1975 that information was in newspapers and magazines that were out of reach of any riff raff on the streets.  Where possible the relevant editions would not make it into Kenya.  It was under control.

In 2014 she wakes up one morning and it's trending on twitter.  With every Tom, Dick and Harry able to chip in with their opinions.  It can spiral out of control.

This is why these fellas are panicking. The power of the social media has caught them unawares. They could bribe entire Media Boardrooms and sleep sure they have tamed bad news. Now anybody with a smartphone can reach millions of people in a moment. They have turned to using the coercive powers of the state to intimidate and harass.  They are now using trolls to piss on threads in BBs but find it harder to tame tweeter and FB. Yet everyday the social media is expanding in Kenya faster than then they can summon trolls.

It is no different from the days when Ngugi and others came up with pamphlets - Mpatanishi, DTM etc. Then Moi used the Special Branch to intimidate. Show trials of the 80s and 90s are back on the table. Some of the current turncoats made their mark and ended up in parliament via Moi's dudgeons. Expect to see more bloggers behind bars.

That is open secret of how Kenyatta acquired his wealth which incidentally is mostly registered in Mama Ngina name..not the other co-wives or relatives.

In the process they are making social media and bloggers powerful. The best medicine is to ignore what goes on the internet. With time it will disappear. You cannot possibly control what folks will write in internet era. What will they do with bloggers outside kenya?

watched itumbi yesterday on ntv putting a clown show trying to disengage the ongoing sh@ from state hse but there is no convincing given Wadi is still in jail...as long as Wadi is in jail there is no wiping away the sh@..... state should coerce the prerogative of mercy committee to decide wadi case within hours like it coercing every other institution around
