He ran and he conquered but as all humans seems he has run out of gas.

He has not always won all marathons he took part in. He will give it another shot around October in one of the big marathons. Most likely it was just not his day.

Yeah he missed water at some point and paid; I dont think he is over; he still managed to finish; unless he get injured he will still run and win races; as he slowly age.

He will likely run newyork and then olympic marathon.

That is enough red flag. He could not cope with the weather and pressure from Gaey giant.

It is time he starts doing it now for appearance fees and finishing not competitively.

EK has made marathon winning look normal; what he always does is abnormal; what he did yesterday was normal; as marathon is just crazy sprinting for 42km on a day that weather can be bad, you can miss one water point, wind or temp bad, etc.

So I'd say this unless he loses the next - he still has lot in the tank. He lost London. Good thing EK still had the grace to go through and finish.

He has manage to be injury free - and that critical thing for him - as cerebral althete - he will be studying what went wrong. Boston hills were definitely a killer, then rain and the wind

That is enough red flag. He could not cope with the weather and pressure from Gaey giant.

I see Obiri is now into marathons.  It seems like marathons are easier on older legs - a lot of them switch that direction when they age.

Injuries are normal(in training) at this stage.  Eliud himself mentioned it.  Because training tends to be harder on the body than the actual race.

Yes marathon will finish young legs and muscles so fast - that is why most althetes with some speed in them do tracks. Only those althetes who are slowly but endure for long should take marathon.

Obiri has wierdest running form - like those japanase - but somehow she runs very fast.

How old is Kipchoge? and how long can you run for before your legs give out?

The New York Times had an interesting article on how fast he runs, but I think what these marathon runners do is insane.  It looks easy when you watch them on tv cause they make it look so effortless (I mean, Obiri was smiling at the finish line);

She finishes each stride completely and uses the full momentum to launch onto the next.  It's the most efficient, but can be exhausting for an untrained runner(you run out of breath and begin taking deep ones throwing into further disarray).  You see it with Eliud Kipchoge and most good long distance runners.

Running will eventually wear out your joints even if you still have endurance.  But these guys can go for long.  They are not carrying around 200+ lbs like many of their agemates.

Kelvin will replace Elidu Kipchoge in a very short time. One GOAT out another incoming seperated by 18 seconds only. I think Kelvin will run under 2 very soon!
