What really really astound me is why nobody is investing in climate change.
I mean commercial forestry is best long term investment on can do...prize of trees/woods will beat inflation as its becoming harder and harder to harvest natural forest.

Pension and Life insurance funds should invest in large forest plantations - only risk is maybe fire or disease - should be easy to insure.Give these commercial forest 20yrs - come and harvest - and they re-grow.

If a pension fund plant one acre of trees - when someone enrol - 30yrs later - when they want to take retirement - the harvested trees will pay off their lumpsum and more.
Not only are the trees growing without any husbandry or tendering or investment (beyond just seedlings/taking care for two yrs) - your land is appreciating without you doing anything - and you feel good contributing to global good.
Look at South Sudan - their biggest most prized export now - TEAK - planted by the Brits in 1950. That teak is GOLD now. Imagine if pension or life insurance with investment goal of 40yrs was to plant TEAK or MAHOGANY now - and then wait for 40yrs to harvest? The hardwood will continue to become more precious as they become more rare....as only very folks who can wait for 50yrs or so can invest in it.
Instead of investing money in fancy crappy stuff - buy land - plant trees - and forget about them. Let that become your life insurance - if you die - you kids will harvest - and sell them. Sell them when they are mature - from 10 shs seedling - you will be selling one tree for 100,000.
