1) Police EJK policy vis Judiciary Ineptitude
2) Police corruption - especially traffic police. They need to be disbanded pronto and counties given that job.
3) Police welfare  - happy responsible police

You are taking it for granted, that we have no angels in power. Forget it. The current crew has no interest in reforming the police. They and Uhuru had the chance after 2013 and turned the whole process into a circus.

This is one issue which missed serious deliberations in the campaign period largely because ufool was complicit. He knew what Kinoti and Kameru were up to.

National Police Commission was killed during vetting after Kavulundi got skull scare and ufool defended police wealth during vetting. IPOA has been silenced. Internal Affairs seems also had hands tied.

Koome does not fit the bill. It is time to get a security expert from Scandinavia or wherever as the IG. Hire several foreign senior police officers or commissioners.

Ruto having been victim of rogue security sector has been given a second chance to redeem himself on this issue.
I expect Ruto with new team will want to do things differently.
So far he is doing great - has fired Uhuru guys - there is new air of reform - and we have to seize it.
And try to move forward.

Not remain forever cynical that nothing will change.

Kenya has changed - the police force is a blot on a many fronts.

Yes I agree - our police force have cultural problem - that can only be fixed by bringing in experts. I dont know the legality of that - but I we need someone from functional police to come re-imagine our police force.

Kenya police is the worse possibly in the world - corrupt & violent.

We have window of opportunity with new guys to change the story. Matiangi took his dictatorship and made the situation terrible - and when Raila cheered the so-called deep state & system - they became emboldened.

For me it has to start with taking the police back to their villages - and having them serve local police stations like teachers - and now nurses do. This will improve their welfare without them resorting to corruption. They will eat and sleep at home. They wont need to go robbing people to get money for beer.

Chiefs and Ass Chiefs are generally okay - few complains of inhumanity.

One of the things they need to look into is the remuneration of junior police officers.  In the west, being a police man is a solid middle class job that comes with benefits and a pension and job security and the more specialized the unit, the more pay e.g. FBI agents make more; DEA agents make more; ATF agents make more. It's a real career not something looked at as a place for academic failures.
