Michael Joseph wishy wishy despite admitting opportunity to offer more financial products under CBK regulation - mortgages, asset financing.

Or force Safaricom to open Mpesa to other competitors. Having a monoploy in free market system is not the way to go and always remember the majority of Safaricom is not owned by Kenyans.

For those blinded  by 'economic' accolades dished out to Kibaki over the years, stop and take note of that subtle but important note posted by @KaInsect: ....
Quote
Former Nyeri MP Wanyiri Kihoro, said, though Kibaki, as a person, was a peace loving Kenyan, as a President, he performed dismally in uniting the country and would have performed better as a church minister than a president.

His achievements, he said, should not be exaggerated as he had his own shortcomings.

The benefits of Safaricom to Kenyans are immense and cannot be equated to dividends only.

This is the essence of efficient deployment of FDI.

I think you are mistaking Safaricom, the monopoly with Safaricom mobile money transfer service. The same service can be done using other competitors like Airtel and Telkom. Mpesa is now nothing new and has been repeatd allover the world without having one company domination almost all the market.
