Author Salman Rushdie attacked at lecture in western New York
Salman Rushdie, the award-winning author of several novels, was attacked on Friday at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York, moments before he was set to give a lecture, The Associated Press reports. Per the AP, a reporter witnessed a man punching or stabbing Rushdie on stage. The author has previously received death threats for his writing. Rushdie's condition was not immediately known.
