My guess would be the West is busy buying up all the gas they can on the market in an attempt to minimize Europe's reliance on Russian gas. Poorer countries like us can't compete! (probably) If the Russians turn off the facet today as promised/warned/threatened (assuming EU companies fail to adhere to their directive to open Russian accounts and pay in Roubles), expect this to get MONUMENTALLY worse.

I suspect any govt seeking re-election soon may find that an uphill task coz most mwananchi from most places, poor and rich, will not say "Ukraine war/Western sanctions!" They will find stones to pelt their ruling govt with.

Already, Macron is starting to feel major heat in France. What a horrible time to be up for re-election! He was a shoo-in till about a minute ago! All sorts of reactionary or just rival factions in many countries will be taking full advantage of the coming disaster to topple ruling govts all over the globe. They will help the people blame the govts, just like during Covid, but worse. Coz most people don't directly experience the War ala Covid: connection to their difficult day-to-day hardships will be harder to make, IMO.

Interesting times ahead! But just my take.

Yes that is why Raila hitching on Uhuru is most boneheaded decision ever - Ruto is running as the change candidate

Uhuru spent 4 years trying to hurt DP and forgot about everything. By election night Kenyans will be on their knees voting for basic needs like food. Uhuru is so bitter he might create anything and blame on DP right now!
The future belongs to those who have a quarter of the character and integrity of RV Heavy Hitter!

Weuweh, RVH, . . . . I'm game on blaming the Jubilee govt for all sorts of problems (both of them! Not just Uhuru!  :D) But this shortage is due to the war in Ukraine, specifically, the economic war btw the West and Russia, not to Uhuru "forgetting everything," lol. This is basically another Covid. Like Covid, also due to human screw-ups rather than acts of God/nature.

Beside Gasoline how else would this hurt France while they are heavily reliant on Nuclear energy thanks to looted uranium from Africa? Share more details

Africa should free itself from western non sense and be neutral like India. Buy oil from Russia and Iran as a matter of National interest..

The analyses I've read have the whole EU economy suffering as all sorts of industries are affected. They may not be as hard hit as Germany, but if commodity prices go crazy, I imagine it'll reach them, too. But I'm not an economist, just saying, he looked undefeatable till recently. May have nothing to do with Ukraine, though.

It more about Uhuru mismanagment - fuel subsidy - now no profit margins - this will lead to market collapse

What prompted the fuel subsidy?

Well, seems Macron is back ahead!

But theirs is 10th April, I guess too soon to be affected by any problems in the EU economy that may occur if their trade arrangements with Russia break down.

It's going nationwide - already transport is affected - another corona like lockdown due to Uhuru lack of leadership. He is waiting for god knows what before he start acting.

Order the Borana to pay Oil markets - not bribe ever Somali - for their little votes

Nope! Macron is now fighting very hard as LePen becomes a REAL threat.

As said before, it's truly unlucky to be running for re-election this year. Though if things do not get resolved, it'll probably be worse to run for re-election next year. Rival parties/factions are taking full advantage and the population is starting to fear a harder life that threatens to materialize

Already, Serbia and Hungary who voted this past week have voted to continue getting their gas without hindrance, basically. And I understand, though haven't read myself, that the EU is sanctioning Orban of Hungary for publicly breaking with the EU.

I personally DO NOT WANT the EU to break or weaken. It will not be good for poor countries to leave US and China alone controlling everything. Heck, if they're left alone, they might eventually find some sort of arrangement, then we'd me even more screwed with an even more monstrous unipolar global bully.  :D

My prayer is the Europeans move away from NATO to save their economies, build their own military (and eventually leave NATO as a block) and create a European security system that includes Russia to prevent war in future. I want Russia to prosper. I want a world with US, China, EU, Russia, India 'super powers.' If we only have US and China, with EU/Russia turned into poodles, that is NOT good for the global South.

I also lived in Europe for sometime and developed my own fondness for it. I don't want that place to radically change.
