Ruto doesn't not do retail politics. He does wholesale politics. He excel in propaganda and once its has sunk - then it easy to reap the benefits. Trying to appease every guy who leave you is political retail. But if you concentrate on a message - it become easy. Many in mt kenya have attempted to finish Ruto - but they find hustler nation has already sunk deep - and wananchi want to hear nothing else. They coil their tail and come for their wheelbarrow.
Raila is also good in wholesale politics - but seem he has lost his mojo.
Raila is trying to get momentum post BBI - and his Azimio thing aint working. Last year he sprung a BBI momentum on Ruto - and it worked for quite some time.
Until he find a counter-move post-BBI - Hustler Nation - remain the only wholesale politics that can sell everywhere - otherwise it become difficult to sell message in mt kenya then go to coast and sell a different message
You need to create a political wave or euphoria or a tsunami - Change, MAKA, etc. Raila made a big bet on BBI - it has fallen flat.
Ruto has not united anyone past Kalenjin. That is wonderful but he has no magic to unite other kabila. The "frontal attacks" were on Uhuru lead by Kurias and Ngunjiris. It is these Ruto generals that have turned against him. That underdog game he played against Uhuru and Raila... he can't play it now.
