I am a dispassionate pundit. I have told you money in Kenya is like AK47 in Ethiopia or Uganda or Rwanda. It is the reality of our politics. Its is something that anyone who enters politics realizes they need to have...if they are truly serious.
You need billions of money - sio hiyo ya Raila still shaking governors for slush funds. You need like 10 choppers. You need a lot of money to become Kenya PORK - only Kibaki got in the first term without spending - but Njenga Karume had spent a fortune in the 90s on him. Mama Ngina spent a fortune in 2002 and 2013.
2ndly you need INTELLIGENCE. I mean you need CIA - you need to know what your political rival or enemy is planning - what they are saying - what they are doing. So you can COUNTER their plans - and stay ahead. You need spies. People who are inside your rival shouting the most - while in fact they are feeding you with your opponent's game plan or even sabotaging them by saying stupid unpopular things.
Then rest is really packaging yourself with good propaganda as the people's savior. Get money to be splashing around - Kenyans just expect that you will offer practical help now long before they elect you. Stay on top of your rival. Understand what people want. Package into nicely woven propaganda.
Politics=war=guns(money)+intelligence. This is as old as any war has been. Kalenjin warrior or cattle rustlers invested enormous time on meticulously intelligence-gathering - until they knew everything - where the enemy slept, what time, where things are kept - until the spies were sure - then Laibon or Orkoiyot would give the plan of attack and day of attack. This is the same with politics or war...intelligence gives you the planning edge.
If you're in Uganda - you need Police to intimidate people and remind them of 20yrs of Bush wars - but in Kenya that surest way to political oblivion Matiangi style is to beat up people. This mistake Uhuru and his folks have made - using Brute Oppressive Force in Kenya - surest way to unpopularity. Yes, the Mumbi ruling has intimidated governors - because they can be easily removed - but rest know it's a weekend of drama - and they get bailed out. In Uganda Museveni can take you to a military court or detain you for 3 months. In Kenya, the police state was dismantled in the 90s. The rungu in Kenya has NOTHING. Murders suspect are bailed out leave alone political cases.
In Kenya, you can persuade someone with money - not batons.
Now why do you think Uhuru people are CLUELESS on GRAND RAILA PLAN
Itumbi intelligence - seem to suggest - everyone trying to stay afloat. Uhuru definitely does his own thing - and doesn't care about post-2022.
I see Uhuru people scrambling for a plan B. Intelligence so far suggests Uhuru is on Gideon Moi plan. Forget the red herrings and gimmicks - INVEST IN INTELLIGENCE - otherwise, you'll be like Raila - you get played to the very end - and you have no chance to counter it - you are dead meat like in 2002 when he realized too late the Moi had other plans.
Moi-Kenyatta's plan is of course stupid but they don't care...if it doesn't work...no problem...they already have enough money either way...this more like a brotherhood..returning the favor to Moi.
:) It amusing how corruption runs so seamlessly in your world. It is like oil in your engine. Anyway you always peddled Railaphobia here - and my question is if it principally about money why bother with a broke, stingy Raila.
Raila has lots of resources. Gema financiers like SK Macharia. Thanks to Uhuru. Uhuru seems keen enough to sabotage Ruto that he will throw in a few eggs of his own even against the mother's wishes. But Uhuru biggest contribution has been wielding fierce rungu against Waititus, Gachaguas - which is a very cost-effective balance to Ruto cash. Now Ruto starts flat-footed without any outright advantage, probably with half he money gone.
You see Raila doesn't need to be generous, but brainy.
