KTDA is a cartel for siphoning cash from clueless tea farmers. Nothing worse than selling your tea leaves to KTDA. Take ages to be paid and the bonus can turn out to be a joke. Many farmers today just sell their tea diretly to brokers who in turn sell the tea to private tea processing plants.

KTDA deserves to be finished as cleaning it up is almost a joke.

Btw, KTDA officials and tea auctioneers in Mombasa join together to manipulate tea action prices. This is where both parties make their individual cash.

In our place - we have like 10 options - seriously - there are 10 trucks each day from different companies - from large tea estates to many small private tea factories - so it's fully soko uhuru - and trust me KTDA is still the best deal in town. Private are the worse..they pay farmers nearly KTDA monthly rate with no bonus. The large estates like James Finlay and Unilver Tea  - are 2nd best - and pay some bonus every two months.

What kenya need is that kind of soko uhuru. Initially KTDA use to resist others from buying tea from buying centers - but farmers revolted - now all those 10 companies - each have their own time or slot - and each have their own quality standards - or no quality at all.

Every day  in my village - there more than 10 trucks from 10 tea companies - James Finlay, Uniliver Tea, Kipsigis Tea, KTDA, Kuresoi Tea, Siomo Tea, Ndaraweta Tea, Kabianga Tea, Saosa tea, Chebango and even one from Kisii that collect basically left over trash tea.
