These are tough folks.  Especially Bangladeshi and Cameroonians.  They are used to that jungle environment.  It's probably traumatic for Haitians, who barely have any trees left in their country.

It seems like there is more going on in Cameroon than is being reported.

This journey is not for poor people mostly. It costs about $10k to smuggle someone from cameroun to usa usimg this route. It is easier for Camerounians to claim asylum

Or the whole clan raises the money.  I once met a South African Zulu who made his way here after spending some time at Kakuma refugee camp.  It looks like nothing can stop people who have made up their minds they are moving.

Yes, a lot of kenyans in the 1990s migrated to sa area in hope of securing visitors visa to uk or usa using south africa residency. Many somalis and indians have bought kenyan cit8zenship to migrate to usa or europe
