Mugabe had a sharp intellect, but made a terrible judgement with the farm seizures to hang onto power.  Zim has not been able to recover and it looks like they are getting no help in that respect.  The cardinal sin was victimizing the white man. 

He should have considered going the Nyerere route.  Exit while you can still control your destiny.

It is more than white farms. That was a big mistake but the last years of his rule just proved how cruel he was. How do you demolish houses during such a time. Zimbabweans need to give the land back to farmers. Land without capital id useless. I have seen people starve while sitting on big chunks of land. Africans need to agree that somethings like commerimcial farming need skills and capital. Anyway there was no man in recent history as cruel as mugabe. A Zim colleague told me only if you lived in zim would you understand how cruel mugabe was

I agree, he should have relinquished power before things went out of control.  Hanging onto power in Africa is not a pretty thing at the implementation level.  The rest is poverty, also not an uplifting sight in Africa.  That shit can make you lose faith in fellow man.  I totally concur on the farms being handed back to the previous owners, even though I understand why it was problematic in the first place.
