uhuru was removed (or resigned) being minister of finance upon being charged by ICC as per chapter six...but still was eligible to run.

If such ruling is allowed to stand...it will have serious ramification..because all you need to remove somebody permanently from politics..is have them impeached.

Criminal conviction vs political conviction is such fine line - black & white. Political conviction only locks you out of office - you retain your freedom. The threshold is lower definitely. If you are convicted of ethical crimes - such as fraud or CAH - then you lose both right to public office and personal freedom - jail.

About political witch-hunts - only governors can be impeached. While any Kenyan can be equally criminally framed and convicted by a court. I see no distinct danger or risk of frame jobs. Simple: DO NOT LOOT PUBLIC COFFERS. Do not commit crimes. In any case 2 out of 47 governors is hardly a cause for alarm. I am much more concerned by the wanton looting.

RV Pundit really? you tend to get confused by these integrity issues. Is it because most "hustlers" are actually thieves? One day you should fall a ponzi victim and get a clue. Waititu and Sonko kind should never have been elected and this is good riddance. That someone broke out of prison - had a dozen ongoing fraud cases - got elected ...obviously it was a matter of time before they were kicked out and permanently banished. Nairobians should look in the mirror and be ashamed of themselves.

Chapter Six in its purity should have applied to the dynamic duo right from 2013.

Chapter six has to be understood in context..of state officer..who is elected political animal..by kenyans..and state officials appointed.This is basic foundation.Uhuru therefore could not meet threshold to become minister but can become pork.Sonko cannot be hired in any gov position but can be elected.Article 1 is clear. Sonko, Waititu, Uhuru, Ruto already got elected - the people decided in 2013, 17.

The same people elected assembly and senate who impeached Sonko, Waititu. Noone stopped the two from running to high court, CoA, SCORK to overturn the impeachments  - but the 14 days appeal window is gone now so their fate is sealed.

The very Wanjikus voted Cok2010 judges - who cleared Uhuru, Ruto to run. If ICC senior magistrate Ekaterina had convicted Uhuruto - and appeal chamber upheld or they fail to appeal within legal window - they would lose their presidency. And become permanently ineligible.

See? No confusion. Appointed official get fired or step down immediately - elected must get convicted first and exhaust appeal. In fact Pundit - since MCA, MPs and senators are elected unlike judges - they have the right amount of mandate to politically convict - and you still get to appeal.

That LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE is slippery slope. The people can also elect a foreigner or Al Shaabab. There must be standards.

The courts need to clear out this. EACC under Uhuru appointees cannot be trusted.
Ruto needs to rush to court as the hounds have tasted blood.
