Think of it. It is bantus that call shots in sub saharan africa

From south africa to congo

Cushites and Nilotes states are either unstable and always at war

Prove otherwise

In arts
Lingala, mariam makeba, yvonne chakachaka, benga, bongo in tanzania. What do nilotes have?

But that’s because of sheer numbers and extent.  They are everywhere in the Southern half of Africa.

Nilotes IMO are a poorly defined category.  A wastebasket taxon.  Grouped together, absent an organic relationship, because they can’t fit anywhere else.

Fulani kind of remind me of Bantus but in the Sahel.  A group that has for one reason or another grown to encompass a large region, and adopting several different population groups into its realm.

Yeah they are more liberal than conservative. Religion just adds a mystery to them.

Indeed they are.  I have met a bunch of them from Gambia and they are not your typical Muslim.  Fine women too.

Do you know that there is no Bantu, Nilotes or cushites classification in nigeria. Most nigerians when i talk to them about these groups they do not know them

Look at Nigeria Fulanis lands are occupied by everyone and they are going to be decimated by globalcwarming. With lake chad drying fulanis will be extinct

It's more to do with how they are socialized than anything else.  In Naija environment the language groups are not so spread out like Bantu.  So they are treated as what we call tribes in Kenya.  That is how mzungu saw them and conditioned them to accept.  It's not a stretch to imagine that mzungu could have easily lumped Akamba, and GEMA into one super-tribe and conditioned them to see themselves that way.

:D.  West Africans cook very differently.  I find their cuisine to be richer than Kenyan one.  Some of it can take getting used to.  I still can't bring myself to combine fish, goat, beef, chicken and shrimp in one dish.

Bantu-Nilotes-Cushites - are mostly terms used by kenyas. Uganda you'll mostly here of bantus, luos and nilo-hamitic. You are also likely to hear of regions being equal to tribes. Eastern. Northern. Central and Western...they equate region with culture/tribe.

In Ethiopia - my friend - laughed when he heard largest tribe in kenya was 8m - in Ethiopia - that would be classified under Southern Nations and other people. They don't register our tribal grouping like cushites- because Oromos, Amharas, Somalis and etc - some are 30M plus. The same is true for Nigeria where big tribes are nearly 50M each - Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. So for them - you have Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and other tribes.

Yep.  Ethnic categories, while some are scientific, tend to be a social construct, and thus internalized differently from one location to another.  Another example is how black is defined in the US.  In America the "blacks" include people who are not even remotely considered black in a place like Kenya or South Africa.  And you wouldn't convince them that Manute Bol and Ben Jealous are different races.   Similarly what someone defines as an ethnicity is going to vary from one country to another.

That aside, there is definitely something that independent of the social environment ties together groupings such as Eastern Nilotes, Southern Nilotes, Western Nilotes, Bantu, Igbo etc.

Yes language more often than not denote a close genetic connections - there are few - who abandoned their language - but generally without DNA - language is good predictor of al things nature. Nurturing is maybe 50% of what we are - and 50% nature.
