He is joking. He became Nairobi governor. He would just be happy thug in Buru. Now he is facing tough times but Sonko is an alley cat. He will survive..because frankly everyone knew he was a thug..just a robinhood.

That Mumbi ruling has destroyed devolution. Governor now has no security of tenure. Imekuwa useless post. Even if you don't steal - nothing stop DPP from framing you and forcing you out.

I decry that rulling. It need to be reversed. A governor should never step aside from office.

This will force these cases to be adjudicated quickly. Sonko can still claim his governorship seat. A governor  should step down. If they do not then it would create impunity. Now vpters will have to consider if their governor candidate has enough integrity to last a full term..McA now have a lot of power and senate too has to be able to effectively have oversight..governors just need to be good administrators nothing  else .

It's a mockery of democracy to force someone elected by millions to step aside on suspicion - while the law allow for even a criminal who has not exhausted his appeal to run for office.

If it's about protection of witness and crime scene - I think orders should be specific. The bails conditions should be specific - witness specific.

The orders are to stay out of office. This then makes the governor not have the ability to interfere with running of the county. Just because you are elected by millions doesn't give you any special privileges. There is no lawyer who has been able to challenge Mumbi ruling. Once a Governor is indicted for corruption it is over. The process to remove them from office commences. The party should actually just ask the governor to resign and whip the mca to impeach. You saw what happened with waiting. There were numerous efforts before to impeach but he intervened. He was intimidating witnesses that worked in his office so orders for the governot to stay away from office are reasonable. It is up to the governor at that point to convince the mcas not impeach  him or her. Kenya needs to revisit chapter 6 and strengthen it. It can deal with a lot integrity issues within the political process. Someone like Obado should have been removed from office when he was arrested over Sharon murder

By the way there is no governor that was elected by millions. Plus kenyans voters are not saints. The courts should continue asserting their independence and power. Let the legislators then assert theirs..if legislators feel the jidgement is unfair they can halt the governor impeachment.

Govenors were Mini gods during the first term , when they though they would get around each and everything . They stole undermined the president some even thought they would be reelected without running on the popular parties , Remember Munya and Isaac Rutto . Then came in Mumbi and now they have been neutralized . In as much as DCI and DPP have weaponized the fight against corruption . Its better Mumbis ruling remains that wasy .

Would really like to see Joho fighting corruption cases , though it seems he has cut a deal with Uhuru and has protection from Raila due to support of BBI and referendum
