I think it's the 3rd month now - getting to boiling point - when the tankers roll in. I think Beijing fears a new Tiananmen dark chapter.

Tenth week in a row.

What happens when they are handed back to China in a few years?

If things get out of hand tankers will roll in to support the cops. Maintaining the 'one country two systems' model is in Beijing's interest. Because of Taiwan who are watching in horror. Xi should give up his bully tactics. The protesters know this but they are approaching the redline.

It seems to me that 2019 China's hands are more tied than 1989 China.  Because they are now dependent on their role in the global economic system which was not the same in the 80s.  They will crack down, but not in a fashion capable of making foreign investors second guess the place.

Cops have taken to impersonating protesters and attacking from within. Latest is the tanks are at the border.

That propaganda is ridiculous.  Looks like they are sitting on a time bomb.  If 100 million people erupt, there is no army that can control that.
