The case of Michael Kamau is very interesting.

He is being pursued with unparalleled zeal by people known for opposing any corruption charges against well, their own people and others. He is Kikuyu and usually members of that tribe are not pursued. It is not good for their image and may enhance the stereotype of Kikuyus being corrupt and thieves...

So why is Kamau the exception?

It is simple:

1. He has something they want, they asked him to surrender it and he refused - a Hotel
2. He contributed to raising funds for Uhuru's reelection by looting 40% of his ministry's budget. The problem is unlike Macharia who looted 60% and delivered 65%, Kamau kept most of the loot. In his case the amount was so huge he could not be forgiven (as in the case of Ngilu and had no protection or other use as in the case of Chirchir).

So Kamau will be the first to be properly and legally pursued for corruption. Note that he is NOT being pursued for the crimes he committed under Uhuru. He is not even being pursued for 1/8 of the crimes he committed under Kibaki. The 50% he collected from resident engineers shaking down sub-contractors; The 20% he collected upfront from all road contractors! No
