The late doyen of Kenya opposition Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in his book not yet uhuru stated that the best strategy is retreat once you are faced with having to take on dictatorial regime. He would tell nyanza leaders to work with the government so that they could continue helping their constituents. His oppinion was that after elections or political confrontation it was better to leave the stage and live to fight another day..Oginga would retreat to his farm and only emerge when he knew momentum was on his side. Raila move was strategic and gives time for his supporters to work and live to fight another battle.

In 2021 nyanza will once again confront kanu regime

Luo nyanza has been the opposition nerve center. Without luos Kenya would become a shithole similar to Burundi..it is nyanza opposition and brains that delivered devolution..it nyanza opposition that reappealed section 2a..

Luo Nyanza should now refuse to play the role of the opposition until all Kenyan tribes are ready for real change.  The reason why Ruto targets Raila and the luos is because he believes Raila and Luo Nyanza will reliably became the face of opposition for him. The trick is for Raila not to play that role and Ruto will be lost.  Ruto want to make Raila his 2022 opponent and play the same old tired game again, hopefully he will realize that his real enemies who will stop him from becoming president  are elsewhere and also that Raila and Luo Nyanza are no longer willing to dutifully play the role of the loyal opposition for him.

Ruto desperately needs the united GEMA vote and he needs Raila to help him consolidate the GEMA vote.  Without Raila as the enemy. GEMA, will not see the need to unite behind Ruto just for payback.
