Hyperloop takes shape
« on: October 17, 2017, 12:38:02 AM »
Branson's Virgin just invested big in tube transport startup Hyperloop One. The 3 year company is now worth $700M. They are yet to nail substantive contracts but a major pilot is being considered in the US, Mexico, UK or India. There was talk of a deal in UAE but this has died down. I missed the pod tests in the California in August but seems the tech challenge has been conquered now. Target is 700mph. Funny this company has actually had more corporate problems than tech or capital. In 2015 there were major exits when some top nerds could not cope with founder Shervin Pishevar. There were some suits and countersuits.

Hyperloop One founder Shervin Pishevar - is bigshot VC  who bets on likes of Uber & Airbnb. He actually made his $6B fortune on startup bets. The only other startup nerd - with magic formula to understand startups better than themselves - is Frank Quattrone.

Shervin was Obama Entrepreneurship Ambassador to Asia or something. Dude fired the other Hyperloop founders to be the only one.
