A sting operation finds 7 million unbanked cash from yesterday. 2.3 m cheques.

Given this is a slow day/month for business in Nairobi that had 10 m collections, it means the city generates enough revenue to make it habitable by all if not first world city.

At 10m per day that would be 4 billion. Months like January, February, March, June when business are paying for licenses a day collection would be up to a billion!! Kidero and City Hall petty thugs have really bled Nairobi.

Obviously this is the norm in all counties. If it were not a looters paradise, governors would easily be audited and some of these obscene loot recovered. For now we can only bank on MagufuliSonkoism.

During the period under review, the Nairobi City County collected the highest amount of local revenue at Sh9.62 billion, followed by Kiambu County. Kiambu County followed suit with a collection of Sh1.82 billion followed by Mombasa County with a collection of Sh1.58 billion.

Seven Nairobi County employees have been charged for being in possession of Sh7 million.

Sonko also took Makadara CDF officers to court for same things. I hear emotional Uhuru in Burma giving Sonko full support to reclaim grabbed public lands and fixing Nairobi starting with Burma market.

Hope there is found a working way forward to demolish and rebuild those Eastlands old kanju houses.  This can easily get serious funding given the market forces of the housing sector.
