La times pollsters had trump winning
« on: November 09, 2016, 01:01:02 PM »
They had calibrated their polls for a huge white vote turnout. I remember reading this on 538 and not paying attention to it. There was rumour that trump strategists worked a lot before on Ohio rural voters and they had conv8need him that courting this group of voters was his ticket to nomination

I ignored them too but apparently they got the calibration right.  It is true that "Generals always fight the last war"-most pundits were still all over the "Obama coalition" which took them by surprise in 2008 and was perfected in 2012. They failed to take seriously the "angry white man's revolution", taking place right before their eyes.  All they had to do was to calibrate their polling to measure it.  It was a stunner-a sucker punch.

Too bad America is so segregated that I had no chance to gauge how rural America was going to vote. What a mess? If he reappeals Obama care then you end up with added cost to employers since some of the 20 million insured will go back to employer sponsored insurance. These poor whites will suffer even more

These white voters were not going to vote for Hillary or Sanders they are so fearful of their future that only trump could reassure them.

I agree.  Some folks are saying that Sanders would have won.  That's Monday morning quarterbacking at the water fountain.  I think Hilary and Obama gave it all they had-they lost fair and square.

Sanders would have lost too.. May be Biden would have had a chance given he has a working class background. I doubt anyone would be able to convince this group they just decided they had enough of chessgame and smashed the damn chess board. Now we do have a president elect that no one knows what he stands for or what his team will be.

Scary, but I believe the professional republicans will move quickly to surround him and "guide" him like they did W.  They will convince him that he needs to be disciplined as president to calm the markets and the foreign actors.  I do not think he will behave the way he did during the campaign.  The republicans have a lot of people experienced with governing and they will reign on him.  It seems repealing Obama care and rescinding the executives orders of DAPA and DACA will be his first down payment to his constituents.

White working class are desperately looking for a savior who will break back manufacturing jobs to the rust belt. They tried Obama and now trump and even sanders. They will be disappointed because trump has bit way to bring jobs that are either done technology or by the Chinese. In 4 years their factious will still be closed and that's when they would realize that education is the only key to solving that problem and the democrats are the right people to help them. I had one white lady call me today, that voted for trump, and has Obamacare worried that she heard in the news that the republicans will repeal that law the first thing and she is worried because she won't get cheaper insurance anywhere else. Regret will come swiftly.

This obanacare thing I want repealed because those that are benefiting from Medicaid expansion are trump supporters. They are always against social programs but do not want to personally give them up. Time for reality check is now. Health insurance is so expensive that I personally know a lot of people who kids won't have it were not for schip..that Clinton for to get in place

As someone said those jobs of but a sock on assembly line are gone and only people with technical skills will survive
