Trump Would be the Oldest Person to be Sworn in as POTUS
« on: August 27, 2016, 08:04:14 PM »
He is already 70 and already older than Ronald Reagan was when he assumed office.

He probably has alzheimer's disease and no doubt dementia has set in.

I think she should do one term and quit. She would turn 69 next year so that she is 72 at re-election time.

My fear is that she would try to pivot the DP towards the Republicans (minus the racism). That will deny the left the control of the SCOTUS that they have been waiting for for decades.

I was reading some article which basically states that a majority of the justices will throw in the towel during the next 4 to 8 years.

I recall Bill Clinton's "triangulation" which saw right wing ideas on Crime and Welfare that destroyed many minority families.

My major disappointment was the decision by Joe Biden not to run.

There is always that fear in two-party democracies -- standoff and composite policy. In the end noone likes the outcome. Obama started off as a progressive; Hillary doesn't even try. She will not have the House, perhaps all of Congress. Garland is already moderate enough. Yet the GOP won't touch him. Clinton would definitely capitulate. Expect a hang SCOTUS after the successions, just as now.

Biden lacks charm; most veeps do. It's the "3rd term" encumbrance I feel. Perhaps Kane would make it. Gore didn't.

I have always liked Biden.  From way back when he was Delaware senator.  He is one of those genuine guys, and they are there, who really go to the office to try and make things work better for real people.  He also did had charisma as a senator.

If he were running against Trump, it would have been over by a prohibitive margin.  I just think too much tragedy on a personal level has him thinking retirement.

Looking less and less likely. Trump will need a miracle (big arse terror attack) to overturn Hillary advantage.

He is now left trying to appeal to blacks.  Which is confusing his base.  In reality, he is trying to appeal, not to blacks(he knows it's a waste of time), but to white people who won't be caught associating with a racist just by upbringing.  But what this has done is to take away his strength(even though to a limited audience), which was a simple message.

Trump has this entitlement thing growing out of every pore of his skin. He sincerely believes Obama is illegitimately occupying the White House simply because Obama is NOT white. Trump wants to correct that.

I also suspect that he only decided to run after his exchange with Obama over the Birther stand he took. Trump believed that if a black man can win the presidency, he should easily grab it as easily as wiping his big ass. It was supposed to be a walk in the park.

There often happens to be some basic similarities between bigots regardless of where on the globe they are located. Trump believed that whites are in the majority and will alone vote him into office. If you dial back to 2006 - 2007 you will find Kikuyu bigots proclaiming that they did not need any other tribe and that as long as they have a turnout of 90% they will run away with the presidency. We know that they got it badly wrong and had to resort to stealing as usual.

Trump as I said is greatly pained by the fact that he is staring one of the biggest electoral losses in history. If things go as they are going and if by some luck he continues to tweet and allow his eyes to veer off the teleprompter, I see him breaking Walter Mondale's record.

A man used to bankruptcies ( and even profiting from them) would swallow it and well exploit it commercially. However there is no such possibility. His brand is already facing a backlash arising from the hate and venom from his own mouth.

Trump is however most pained by the fact that he is losing what a black man got "easily". He is above all losing to a girl. The girl that the black man beat! That is when it gets personal.

Whoever is advising him better pull up his socks. With Obama's current high approval ratings, the candidate attacking him loses votes.

That said, I never believed a madman would run for the highest office in America and be within range of the nuclear bomb. I am told he as already loudly wondered why it is not frequently used, saying "what is it for if it is never used?"

Couldn't agree more. I think Trump think this is easy coz some black guy did it. Otherwise he'd probably be financing Hillary bid if it wasn't for Obama. Obama rattled many rednecks.
