tempting fate.. There used to be an Olympic style swimming pool in kasarani. I think it is still there. For 20 shs we would go there swim and dive. Some kids were so daring and would dive from the highest boards. my buddy in high school has a big scar on his stomach he sustained after jumping off a ship at the port in Mombasa. The local kipevu lads used to use docked ships as their diving boards.  He told me that learning to swim was a rite of passage. You got invited to the ocean and someone drowned you a couple of times. I admire some people for their fearlessness. I am a coward when it comes to situations I have no control.
