Who told this mama to side with the wrong people politically?
Keroche will pay a high price and unfortunately the brewery might be forced to close down or scale down its business. It will be cheaper to import the vodka than to distill it in Naivasha. Thanks to Jubilee govt for the job creation.

Quote
The taxman has informed the brewer that a new taxation formula will be applied to its 'Viena Ice' brand to be backdated to June last year. More than 11 million litres of the product have been sold since then, suggesting the brewer is now required to remit taxes it has not collected. Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja addresses the Press on threats by a Member of Parliament to storm the brewery in Naivasha recently. She is flanked by Managing Director Kabutha Nduati.  Of the amount arising from the computing, Keroche has paid over Sh300 million under the terms applied in the past, leaving it with 1 billion in disputed back taxes

I know Okoyus are punishing Rayirla because he has some shares in Keroche. But Keroche is what stands between methanol/formalin rivers, blindness and alcoholics in Central. Very myopic

This vindictiveness would not help Uhuru and his Kikuyus. They should not behave as if these are the dying days of the Jomo Kenyatta presidency. Didn't some thinker warn politicians to keep off their opponents' wealth and wives?

I thought KRA is an independent agency?
First Politicians sent hooligans to raid the brewery, now they are sending KRA.
The taxman can't make laws and then backdate enforcement. They need a strong lawyer to fight this.
Thousands of jobs will be lost.

Why is the KRA  commissioner involved in this? I thought the agency has a court which is supposed to order compliance or cease operations.

Let not impute improper motive without evidence. There is no evidence that KRA are acting under influence. Kerocho have gone to court and got a reprieve. If KRA were to go outside the law then we will be concerned.

Kenyans need to respect institutions. If your dispute any tax claim; you go to court.
