Another 15 years before retirement
« on: September 25, 2023, 10:06:30 PM »
Lol it will be a long road. I got retire in 5 years. I see no point of waiting for govt mandated retirement age. Retiring at 65 is pure insanity. You only have 5 years of senility left if you retire this late. What I need to figure out is how to fill the time once I retire. This weekend I got so bored I was playing 8 scrabble games simultaneously online. May be have more kids with a young damsel. That will keep me busy. Traveling is for wanjinga. I can take flights more than 3 hours

Volunteer as  teacher or headmaster of a primary or Secondary school in your area, to uplift the poor who have no direction of what they want in life. If you have none in mind come kwangu will give a young Samburu lady and in return give back to the society. No role models in Kenya, only theives   wash wash idiots roaming in every high office selling conmanship as a way of life, and hardwork at school as a waste of time.

Agreed.

When democracy gives us such results, What should we do?

Leaders are reflection of the society, so is a societal problem. In my culture we have remedies for this, but in a multicultural society , with competing interests i see the feature as bleak unless everybody has 3 meals a day, then we can bury the my tribe mentality which is the cause.

Agemate,
Kudos for not being forthright about your age, unlike a certain RV on this wall who @Patel is quick to remind us is holed up in Mavoko. In his social medi bio (check out his X profile) the RV says he has been blogging for 30 years yet he has been celebrating 40 years EVERY year for as long as I can remember. Doing the Maths that is to say he began blogging at 10 years! A time his age mates were somewhere in primary class five???

Mjinga I have nothing to hide in my life. When I married, bought my first car, got my first kid, zote ziko hapo. I am now 42yrs and semi retired - I do have few consultancies here & there where I am mostly doing Project Management - but generally you'll find me half the month in my farms & business in Nakuru, Bomet and Kericho- and half day in Nairobi.

65yrs is crazy. Retire early. Chukua hiyo 401K, cash your pension lumpsum and come to kenya. Our parents retired at 50-55yrs if I recall.

If you work for the money then retire ASAP. Why wait for 5 more years.. wasting away???? However if your job is your passion then you never retire . It becomes an extension of you. You might go for semi retirement but you will still have clients bending in every shape and form to accommodate your schedule.

Njamba and Pundit stop setting age limit for people here 60s are new 30s plus not everybody want to hang out at Gachie, Kericho and Bomet growing warus and cabbage. Nothing beats the economic freedom to tour the world while working remotely. Retirement can wait.

You gonna die at work. It will be a sad end. What do you do? I'm sure you are so community College tutor. That is a sad job. No progress just rehashing the same material over and over to different students. I am not retiring to go back to zamunda. There is nothing for me to do there..

Has uncle moodie finally retired? The last I heard he was in his mid nineties and still chairing some parastatal board! And that was over 5 yrs ago!

Enjoy life. Avoid mipango ya kando. Keep away from liquor especially spirits. Do alot of excersises. Travel the world. If you prefer the company of animals like I do, venture into farming. There's nothing satisfying like seeing your herds and flocks flourish and increase, with your grandkids running around chasing insects and birds on the farm.

Sweet death my broda..same as dying on top of the most beautiful yellow yellow...who would complain? Look for a hobby especially hapo yues. Wood working can be very rewarding since you can get all tools and materials dirt cheap. Also old cars restoration can be rewarding average 1 car per year get those old caddillac 60's and rebuild them slowly slowly...hii mambo ya retirement wachana nayo. Reduce your work week then do something very different from what you do at work. In heaven there will be no work so do it here...
