I think kiambu population may be just at replacement level and not growing. In my own family we just replaced the number of parents kids. Meaning all siblings combined only has as many kids as my mum had. Wild to think about. Without imported labor from western kenya we would have to Mechanize the farm or stop farming. This the same case all over my village. Even the poor have stopped having kids.

That is the trend everywhere. Even those in the middle and bottom of the pyramid have realised the importance of having few, manageable number of kids. Three or four should be the constitutional maximum  . No need to suire many kids that you cannot fend nor provide for.

Kiambu has 6 among 15 towns with the largest population. We are having immigrant household who now have kids who call Kiambu home and the population can just go up as the dormitory demand rises. The tea farms needs to be sliced for cheaper homes for those who are okay with the cold weather. Also so much idle land held by the dynasties are going to be sub divided as they are dead or dying and the kids are itching to ball with the billions.

The Nyachae boy has already started subdividing Nyakio.

That why I qualified my post with kiambu natives not transplants from outside. Yes, the migrants are growing the population and demand for resources which makes the small families even more stable..they are able to invest resources to provide housing and other goods and services.  In my village we even have Wariah hawkers

People just like animals give birth when they have sufficient to eat...majority Kikuyu don't have land, animals or grazing pastures while they no longer have monopoly in the government unlike in the past, that means they have to become slaves in mjengo,urban settlements,middle east slaves,maids and that means massive depopulation because you don't expect a maid in dubai,koinange street prostitute or mjengo woman to have more than two children.

To make the matters worse, you don't expect a so called university graduate corporate bitch or immigrant (who works long hours) to have kids.

All that leads to moral decadence, broken families, alcoholism, single parenthood and low birth rates.

Wo/men give birth as self-preservation - the more they know their kids will make it (less mortality) - the less kids.

As child and general mortality falls - people dont see why they should have 5 or 10 kids - they have one or even none if life expectancy is very high.

Children are our future plans - our way of self-preservation.
