I was gonna ask whether people are following 9ja elections. It really looks like Obi is the front runner. Qualitatively, looking at internet comments etc.

I have zero information on any of the Nigerian candidates. I just noticed that progressives on social media seem to be mostly supporting Obi. Several opinion polls (including Bloomberg) and analyses predict Obi will win. But at least one says Tinubu. Some people suggest that Obi's excitement on social media doesn't necessarily extend proportionally to the ground. I've no clue.

I'm seeing more Yorubas saying that they'll vote for Obi, an Igbo, than Igbos saying they'll vote for the Yoruba candidate, Tinubu. But no clue whether this is the Wajackoyah/Kenneth phenomenon where people say they'll vote for someone but act differently in the voting booth.

I love punny political catchphrases/slogans. I think the best one that I've seen in Kenya was Najib Balala of NARC in 2002 vs Shariff Nassir of KANU, where Balala's slogan was Sina siri, Nina jibu. I recently saw a Nigerian commenter modify the old testament bible verse, obedience is better than sacrifice to Obidience is better than sackofrice. Lol. As people know, Obi's followers are known as "Obidients". And Tinubu is known for donating thousands of bags of rice on multiple occasions over the past few years.

Tinubu likely to win. North Nigeirans dont like Igbos.

Obi would have been the best for Nigeria - he is their Ruto.

Tinubu is good but too old.

Tinibu problem is buharis economy and the fact the population is young. Obi may have timed this right. I  am going to subscribe to The African report and read their indepth analysis on battle grounds
if he wins he will need a lot of goodwill from the mafias..in the north and the Yoruba kinpins..I want him to win as this will move tinibu out and people like Fashola can emerge

Mwafrika needs serious rethink.

60K have been killed and Naijas re-elected a dead zombie walking due to religion and tribe.  Now voting in another dead wood.

Nigeria elections is a big sham. I see why only 37% of people showed up go vote last time. Young people have been duped. Tinibu is being corronated

According to wikipedia, Tinubu once served as a mule for 2 Chicago heroin dealers.  Integrity has little to no purchase with the African voter.
Quote
During his time in the United States, Tinubu was noted for his suspiciously high income before being investigated by federal authorities; eventually his assets were frozen in 1993 as a result of a court case asserting that the American government had "probable cause" to believe Tinubu's American bank accounts held the proceeds of heroin dealing. He would settle with the government and forfeit about $460,000 later that year. Court documents and later reporting on the case revealed that Tinubu had served as a bagman for two Chicago heroin dealers in the early 1990s.
