Iko shida huko. Covid Zero policy has come back to hit them hard. Low vacination rates among the elderly above 80 years and the Chinese vaccines ae not as good as the MNRA ones. Xi Jinping is now in a fix. He should have done the honourable and left the top seat after 10 years. His successor would have been more flexible.

China has a big aging population. most of it living extended family homes. so it means this group will be wiped out. China should just ask uncle Sam to send them 300 million doses of vaccine and make vaccination mandatory especially for the elderly..Xi weaponized coivid and it has come back to haunt him. there is a very big disconnect that is now very clear between the  old guard controlling ccp and the young citizens. this gap can only be bridged by radical reforms of ccp. a coup within ccp to remove the old guard and usher in a new pro reform group. I don't see this happening so this will be a long drawn battle of decades between the governed and governors. I expect ccp to crumble one day. it will be sudden fall like that of ussr.
