No rains for a long time so even the maize beans stock in the rural areas is exhausted...the people in urban areas depend on their relatives in the rural village to supply them with food..so the luhya who earns 600/- in mjengo is not getting gorogoro of maize from village.Hr has to buy the unga.Out of the 600 Bob...120 goes to unga,60 bob bus fare,sukuma 40 Bob,sugar 30 Bob,water 20 Bob,rent 100 Bob,school 100 Bob...that is a per day budget...of he misses labour for one week in a month,the family sleeps hungry.The same applies to Boda Boda...if he earns 1000 per day,pays loan of 300 Bob,is left with 600,Boda Maintaince of 100 Bob a day..take home is 500 Bob,incase of anything Hunger.
Another group of victims is shopkeepers and Mitumba people,you think you've made profit the whole week,once you go collecting new stick from wholesalers the prices are up which means no profit and depleted stock.
Let them subsidise fertilizer in a drought stricken country.
