Maybe they are buying a stake in Summit. Does castle thika operate now or it's still EABL/KBL that does the manufacturing.Ethiopia have 7 brewers.(including Heinken)..we have only 3. So there is market for more brewers. Sierra the home brewer is also good place to invest money and expand it. Going by all the sort of brands i see in most bars...people want to have more choices.

I think there is scope for small beer manufacturers in each of the county. There is really no need to import beer from Nairobi to Kisumu.

Mworia sounds like they will go it alone ..start from scratch.... but it would be great if they pump money into Summit...its distribution channel is very weak

the main challenge of local brewing industry in Kenya is illicit beers which I think EABL has been using in its dirty marketing against competitors ..we need firm with political connectedness to match up to EABL dirty tricks
looks like the competitors are also turning tables on EABL given the deaths in Murang'a which were attributed to EABL's Jebel

..there is need to clean up the image of Kenyan made beer...Tabitha has really tried with the Summit but still perception is still a challenge

Mututho had tried with his regulation on making of chang'aa through saccos for accountability but looks like EABL has fought the idea and won

EABL dirty marketing have really been an obstacle in growth of local brewing industry ...after pushing out Castle they sold the land to Actis to put up commercial and residential estate on the land
