I work at a public health facility in Maua, Meru. Juzi, on friday we woke up to a village of about 70 people needing emergency care for food poisoning after they ate meat from a dead camel. Majority were children & 1 person died. There hasn't been rain in that village for 3yrs 😭

ruto is in very unenviable place. BABA got saved by the gods of bad luck. people forget even embu has a very arid place just above kieni girls school. there is a place we drove to for school games. I think it is called iciara. the place was so dry only catholic church had water. there was no meat in the butchery. I was told due to lack of refrigerators the butchers only slaughtered once a week and the orders were to be made since within 8 hours rhe meat would rot if left unrefirgrated..I only drank soda and ate a loaf of bread provided for lunch by my school.
