The race to control Parliament
« on: August 16, 2022, 05:19:48 PM »
Both Azimio and KK have call in their troops.

Without 4 mps - it appears from Nation tally - Azimio have 162 and KK - have 159.

There are 12 independents and 5 or so small parties.

Definitely Uhuru will pay anything now to secure the speaker of parliament.

Ruto will also break the bank.

Those 15 or so MPs are going to recoup their investment.

So far Ruto has got the support of Kasarani and Gatundu North independent candidates.

159 versus 162 - now 161 v 161.

We shall see tomorrow when each team meet who will get the speaker of national assembly.

Ruto would be damn if he doesnt control parliament.

Parliament control mainly two lines of Speaker and majority voting requiring two thirds. Once speaker elected there will still need negotiations on two thirds which is major legislation. simple majority and quorum you cannot say. Too unpredictable.

2/3 is amending constitution. You dont need it. Unless you want to institute serious reforms. Simple majority and friendly gov - will work - but it will be very busy work for Chief Whip & Majority Leader - if Azimio can hold up. But we know Raila likely to retire and Uhuru is gone. So I think they will be going for money from statehouse to pass laws.

Ruto controls both houses and governs mansions. He will be very effective, efficient, and severe!
