The framers are an ignorant bunch, as far as today's conditions go. I would include Americans' reverence for these folks . . .

I've always noted how 'religious' that attitude is. Where Catholics might reference Early Church fathers and dead saints, and Muslims their sages, Americans reference their founding fathers  :D Only problem is it's not supposed to be a religion, but a state. Their constitution, too. It's like some type of secular, inerrant Bible/Quran if you hear some people talk. I find it kinda funny but very strange.

PS: This gun issue. I don't think I've met people who are not Americans who DON'T find this whole debate bizarre. Like, they won't even allow background checks? Absolutely insane!

Simple. Do not allow kids and mentally unstable people to have guns.

The moment I hear "the framers", in defense of some absurdity, I instinctively know that further engagement is likely a waste of time.  To be fair, the problem is more entrenched on the right(though the Left to an unacceptable extent also believes in some level of exceptionalism).

But there are Americans who can see the absurdity of it, but they are prisoners of those who can't.
