Untested - 30yrs in politics and running things.
Ruto is PROVEN HARDWORKING, EFFICIENT, SMART AND BRILLIANT LEADER.
That is all you need.
Uhuru is proven drunkard and chain smoker.
COVID changed things so this is hard to answer because we don't know if Ruto would have gone the Magafuli way and said no lockdown or if he would have locked down and for how long.

However, I keep saying that Ruto remains untested and he would be taking over a poor, African country, not a country like Germany with highly skilled, highly productive people.  Africans are Africans (low IQ's, low productivity, low education, tribalism, backwardness, etc).

So, my question is how badly has the economy tanked? because that is what ruto is going to inherit.

Hubris will kill people. Ruto is running for PORK the first time ever. In 2002 his harebrained Uhuru-Gideon strategy destroyed Kanu. He has only been a successful kingmaker.

Get humbled first... in a few months. Next time you will have reliable data to quote: Ruto ran & scored xyz. Saa hii ni guesswork and wishful thinking.

On the eve of well organized UDA nomination - you cannot even pause and ponder? Ruto doesnt need to run twice to win. He is meticouls and has done is homework. He aint missing this. Poor Jakom just got himself the worse rival - resourced, organized, brilliant, strategic, effective, charisma, oratory..name it.

Heck if jakom was today to be dropped by Uhuru and state machinery - he would chicken out of the race.

The only thing sustaining jaCon by a whisker is the belief that Uhuru will deliver GEMA to a tune of 50%. Ruto will win this thing even with 60% Gema voting for Raila. Kamatusa wamepanga laini, coast, Luhyas, and the whole of Kenya is a hustler nation. Like pundit said, 'baba' got the lethal candidate than Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru! My bro has been planning to run since 2012! It will be a miracle if he misses it!

Until someone actually becomes a president, despite years of experience, they remain untested.

Bush was a governor but was tested by 9/11, the war on terror and then by the disasterous war in iraq  (despite surrounding himself with advisors who'd spent 40+ years in government like dick cheney)

Obama/Mccain were tested in 2008 during the financial crisis. Mccain, despite being in government for over 40 years failed that test.

Trump was tested by corona and we all saw what a mess that was.

Uhuru despite his wealth, urbane education, being the finance minister, being around power since childhood, has failed & you can argue that it's because he's a drunkard and chain smoker, but even if he had hired the right advisors, would he have made it? The presidency is unique.

The presidency is a hot seat and you never know how someone will perform until they sit on that hot seat. So, Ruto remains untested. The weight of an entire nation and the weight of 50 million kenyans will for the first time be on his back and we shall see how he performs or whether he out-performs the rest that have been total disappointments.

Africa is a grave yard of leaders that have failed their citizens. Not one has been able to move their country out of extreme poverty. RV Pundit and RV heavy hitter are trying to tell us that we are getting a genius, but Africans are used to disappointment, always and because of Africa's sad history, we remain skeptical.

Yes, Sema, Kenya will have a genius in Ruto. You can see how he has managed to build and steward UDA in a short time. Who knew Kibaki would do better after being a basket and vice President in Moi's government for 12 years. Leadership qualifications are displayed and tested in small bouts like running elections, building parties, and business ventures. In those front, you can see DP outperforming in that small arena. Given a task like running a government, I would trust someone I know. I know DP is capable and most importantly; he is willing to learn, retool, and rely on subject matter experts whenever there is one. We will give him benefit of the doubt for 4 years and start eating him alive if he pans out like Mlevi or mchawi!

Absolutely - give a man a small task - and see how he execute. Gov is a series of small tasks daily that need to get managed and run - but in kenya nothing get going - because few have the skills to execute stuff
