Lake kivu methane power generation

Watched a documentary on this lake. There is caborn dioxide trapped in this lake that if it escapes would kill millions. So Rwanda is extracting methane and pumping co2 back in hope they can avert the possibility of the carbon erupting due to methane pressure.

Anyway I wonder what is the cost of generating power using methane.

How exactly would Co2 "kill millions?"

Plato
This is a good investment.
Some counties in the USA generate electricity from Methane gas produced from landfills.
Its not a new idea

I know the landfill generation but this is first time extraction in such a delicate ecosystem has been done.

I get what youre saying but methane has always been used to generate power.
In Kwitu we call it biomass.

I will be the first to launch that stone. Its a disgrace when you have a govt that only protects the well off. Sometimes I like some of the Chinese style - just execute them

I try not to get too worked up, these assholes do not care. Close to 60yrs of independence and the place is still a chaotic mess and generations wasted. If I woke up tomorrow and find that a very somber military guy has taken over, decided that we cannot continue in this same culture of theft and mediocrity, give the country a break for one year, take the inventory of what we have, jail all the thieves and rid us of the pests, hold a free and fair election with new leaders and establish a new culture, I would be 100% for it. I do not care what the tribe of the military leader is, just a person who loves the country and believes that we need change.

Even if you eliminate corruption - Kenya will not develop that fast - there are many many other variables in the equation of development. You can have zero graft but a country full of illiterates - you need 20-40yrs to eliminate such illiteracy. How will you force people to stop siring so many kids they can barely raise?

Even if you eliminate corruption - poor kenya will not suddenly raise 50B in taxes to finance development - it would still remain a poor country.

When British were running kenya - arguably there was no corruption btw 1900 to 1963 - but was Kenya any richer? Of course NOT
