In Kalenjin land politics is seen as viable means of employment because there are no jobs hence all the young candidates, fahamu  :D

It is not because your people are particularly progressive, to the contrary, Kisii are more progressive and hardworking than yall.

Well there are no jobs in Kalenjin - yet we employ thousands of Gusii and Luos and Luhyas as farm hand, tea pickers and name it. When you can afford to employ a single Kalenjin in Luo Nyanza or Gusii come and talk progress. Only kikuyus can talk because I don't think they are employed by anyone to do such menial jobs.

I am not sure what you mean by progressive and hardworking?

When it come to agriculture - Kalenjin are main farmers producing all the maize, wheat, tea, potatos, beans, milk, goats, beef, name it, that feed kenya. And this is done on a large scale....compared to peasant farming you see in Gusii, Luo, Luhya...where people plant enough food to just feed themselves...and maybe a little for the local market.

I don't know what else is progress - maybe owning matatus and few 1/8 of plots in cities? or dominating slums like Kawangware? What do gusii produces - few bananas and wild vegetables? and sugar-cane for chewing! When it come to tea - they produce very little and worst quality tea - since time immorial.

What progress is this? Educationwise - the number of kalenjin schools sending kids to universities is already staggering - I bet kalenjin kids are now the majority in almost every university. Gusii still leads in exam cheating and nothing more.

Now let move back to politics.

Moi joined politics in 30s - and became president after 25yrs at it! He was 55yr and ruled for another 25yrs - retiring at 70yrs plus.
Ruto joined politics in 30s - and is already DPORK 10yrs - and will be PORK soon. He is just 55yrs.

Electing young leaders is progressive - it also representative of the people demographics - who majority are young - young leaders are likely to care about their career growth - and will work harder.

Now what will Ongeri really hope to achieve - except sell Gusii left right and center at national stage.

The same is true for average Gusii old politician - they don't give a damn - they are in retirement mode.

Gusii need to quickly change course - elect and nurture young leaders. Leadership is not for old and tired retirees....those especially at low level should be young....so by the time...they are in 60yrs..they will be ready for prime time.Orengos and Railas joined politics early - Orengo was an MP in 70s.

Kingereza mingi.. one minute Wanjiku can elect illiterate folks the next Gusii must elect young turks. Gusii and every region will deal with their own mashinani. Nationally I expect Handshake camp to carry the day in Gusii - 90?

Not even Nyachae could do that :) Gusii will split btw old men Raila and young men - pro Ruto. After Matiangi politics ended - it's now Ruto versus Raila. The young Gusiis are going with Ruto - and old are going with fellow old man.

Gusii have an opportunity for generation change - otherwise it sad to see 76 yr old competing with 83 yr old - in a region when average person is 20yrs old.

I don't see Matiangi resigning in next six months to join politics. The deadline is Feb but realistic I expect most in Uhuru gov interested in politics to quit by New Year - and start 2022 - in the cold. Some like Matiangi will want to eat until Nov/Dec - when new gov will be in - so that huge opportunity they cannot risk when politics has proven tough nut - he may support Jakom from the background -
