Number on factor laziness and pombe. A kale is not used to hard work so they find it very hard to adjust to fast us life. Then there is their need to drink daily like zombie. A kale can drink alone for days.

yes, esp if comming from a 'middle class' kalenjin family used to farm hands and workers; they cannot hack non-proffesional life.
What I am noticing the new generation of kalenjin are coming back home immediately after campus.
And they are making a big difference.

That is the best for them. Especially Men. The upper middle class are even worse. They are cannot hack US life. Women can but few of them.

But why go to US Instead of just staying in Kenya I wonder? I have never wished to live out my life in far away lands I love my homelands and being close to family. Again I don't see how alcohol destroys kalenjins there, if you have money to buy booze why not use the money to advance yourself instead.

Alcohol here is cheap. Cost of living is high so they choose the cheapest thing to do. Plus you got to do informal jobs for a while so that makes it hard for them. I agree they should stay in kenya and seek education there. Parents know their kids better and should make decisions based on this knowledge. Some characters cant hack it outside kenya

This one is probably an individual problem rather than tribal. Something between him and his folks.
The ones I know, one owns an IT staffing agency in Glen Ellyn. Another graduated top of his class in Computer Science at Northwestern and moved to Microsoft in Redmond. Another seems to be hacking it at KPMG. It's hard to make a generalization of an entire tribe on the basis of one or even more reports.

I am very surprised at this generalisation. The fewKales Ihave met here are doing very fine. One lady has a doctorate in Civil Engineering and my schoolmate is a very successful surgeon. So I wonder why put a whole ethnic group in one basket. The ones who did not finish their school all returned home and are into some kind of business.

I visited my cousin in kdf and he tells kalenjin are leading in those who can't hack discipline and lead in absenteeism..nearly all have alcohol problem and live in slums especially kibera...instead of being in the barracks.Shida ni pombe and kalenjin stoic culture of bottling up..most are probably troubled
