I know the standards of Kenyan newspapers have fallen beyond repair. But in some cases it is simply gross. Look at this one from The Nation:
BOMET: Keep of teachers’ affairs, Knut tells senator
Teachers in Bomet County have warned Senator Wilfred Lesan to keep off the affairs of the Kenya
I will be using this link to pillory newspapers that fall below their already mediocre standards.

The Nation is now run by uneducated riff-raff. I think the hapless reporter and drunken editor believe they are using /invoke/ which if they listened to Uhuru at all might have heard him mention.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will appoint William Ruto as Acting President for the duration he will be away attending his case at the International Criminal Court.
President Kenyatta made the unprecedented announcement during an address to a special session of Parliament on Monday.
He said he will revoke Article 147, section 3, to appoint Mr Ruto as Acting President while he attends the ICC status conference next week at the Hague.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday evening handed power to his deputy William Ruto and left Harambee house as a civilian."
Interesting. As far as I know he has always been a civilian.

Read this story patiently and please at the end help me find out what the story is. I simply do not find anything worth publishing.
The man has made a reasonable request to be allowed to get the bail. The least the court would have done is grant him his request and ensure that he completes the bank transaction withing a certain period:
A Nyeri Member of the County Assembly on Tuesday stunned a court by asking the magistrate to grant him police escort to go withdraw Sh100,000 for his cash bail.
Marete Ring’iru is charged with creating disturbance by threatening to mobilise people to chase away police and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials manning the Nyeri- Nanyuki roadblock and burn their vehicles as well.
Mr Ring’iru, Narumoru ward MCA, is also charged with incitement to violence by uttering: “It cannot be in Nyeri, Chaka and Narumoru where police and NTSA officers are mounting road blocks.”
According to Chief Magistrate Wilbroda Juma, the MCA uttered those words which could have caused violence on September 30.
The accused person denied both charges and claimed they were false accusations levelled against him.
Magistrate Juma ordered the suspect to be released on a bond of Sh100,000 and a similar surety or an alternative of a Sh100,000 cash bail.
Mr Ring’iru however prayed the court to release him on a lesser cash bail as he did not have the cash required to grant his release, a request that was declined by the Magistrate.
The accused, through lawyer Ms Ngunjiri, then prayed to be granted police escort to withdraw money from a local bank and be released on the Sh100,000 cash bail.
His request was objected by Prosecutor Cathrine Murugi who said she did not have police officers to escort the MCA to the bank.
Magistrate Juma advised Mr Ring’iru to look for alternative ways to secure his release and ordered the case to be heard on October 27.

I like this one: :D
"The officials held a joint meeting with those in the Office of the President led by Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua before the ODP staff returned to their work station satisfied that their boss was firmly in the hands of Uhuru's handlers."

at 0:41 she starts (or continues) a sentence thus:
However there is some concern that the newly found oil and gas reserves could be mismanaged which will not only deprive the East African nations with a chance to prosper but could spur renewed conflict.
First it's the grammar. You deprive one OF something not WITH something.
Second is the twist. The claim that East Africa will return to conflict. Apart from Uganda which suffered a civil war, Kenya and Tanzania cannot be said to renew conflict. This means the story is one of those plants "sold" to our lazy media houses by Western New agencies.

The bill sent to Uhuru states that an officer with executive power shall be suspended with half pay if charged in a court. He refused to sign and returned it to parliament for the deletion of the word "executive" because he feels it is "discriminatory", Simple is it not?
Now read the Nation story. Not only is the opposite stated at the beginning but Uhuru's memo is quoted making one wonder what the truth is! And the Nation is supposed to be the leading newspaper in Kenya!
The National Assembly has deferred debate on amendments that will see its members suspended from office with a half salary if charged with corruption or any other economic crime.
The changes to the anti-corruption and economic crimes laws came from President Uhuru Kenyatta, who sent a memorandum to the House for consideration.
MPs claimed that they were ambushed by the President’s memorandum containing the amendments proposed to the anti-corruption, economic crimes, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Act, the Legal Education Act and General Provisions Act.
They refused to proceed with the debate to allow MPs to scrutinise it.
CONTENTION
Of particular contention are the proposed amendments to the anti-corruption and economic crimes law.
The Bill proposes to amend the section by deleting the existing provision, which says a public officer who is charged with corruption or economic crime shall be suspended, at half pay, with effect from the date of the charge.
It proposes substitution with a new sub-section reading that a public officer or State officer with executive responsibility who is charged with corruption or economic crimes shall be suspended at half pay.
This should take effect from the date of the charge until the conclusion of the case, provided that the case shall be determined within 24 months.
President Kenyatta, however, says the amendment can be construed to be discriminatory against public officers with executive responsibility and recommends it be deleted.
Deputy Minority Whip Chris Wamalwa said removing the word executive would bring in MPs and other elected leaders.
