Can SCOTUS make abortion illegal throughout the country though?  I am thinking the most they can do is ignore states that do it.  But it's 2020 so you never know.  Republicans have single handedly destroyed the good faith that the system relied upon to function.  For the foreseeable future, I just see dysfunction and gridlock unless your party controls three branches.

The biggest problem is not Roe, rather dismantling social security and other systems put in place to help the middle class, declaring corporations as people, and slowly dismantling civil liberties currently enjoyed by all - thus creating an even bigger dysfunctional judicial system that only caters to the well off. In other words turning USA into Iraq.

When you realize how determined these zealots are you got know there wont be peace in a longtime..they are caught in time capsule that stopped time for them in 1950s. 44% of this country is made up of cultists, mad, hateful ranging lunatics like these.

The whole system has become so corrupt to the point we need a new 21 century system.
Republicans love law and order, only when it favors their agenda.
Supreme court should have 21 judges or have limits

You are right. American demographics have shifted and the eurocentric laws and customs need to change or their will be a lot of turmoil.

We need a JSC kind of independent system to run the courts. Not every POTUS to remodel it in his own image. Having a predetermined outcome in most cases is a very bad sign.

That seems to be a legacy that Europe escaped, thanks to the destruction of World War 2.  America's system has not had a shakeup since the confederate civil war.  As long as the people entrusted with it acted in good faith, its cracks remained hidden.  It has no inbuilt defenses against corruption outside of the good faith of those in charge.

The last 30 years(probably longer back to the days of Nixon) have seen a steady but slow erosion of once hallowed institutions.  That accelerated when Obama became President and obstruction became an official policy of the opposition.  Trumpism has taken it to the cleaners.

Absolutely. Yes religious zealots will gain, but most people these days see organized religion as meaningless. Its gone the way of Taliban - forcing others to accept rather than free will. Lots of people have lost hope in the justice system. They see the well off, like Roger Stone get away after they have messed up the whole election system, and a buglar get 20 yrs for stealing a watch.
