Title: KEROCHE BREWERIES VS KRA: The story of alcohol, taxes and lies
Post by: Kadudu on April 23, 2020, 01:24:54 PM
This battle is more of a witchhunt than KRA trying to collect taxes.

Peter Kuguru makes more sense than uhuru and Ruto combined. Highly suspect kenyatta family criminal enterprise is planning to enter beer business. Look at what they did to that drug dealer billionaire Kariuki after he out bid them Mt. Kenya safari club.

Yes Uhuru can be very vindictive. CItizen Macharai knows about him - and how he crashed his empire - at behest of Moi. Jimmy Wanjigi saw a lot of that too. In fact the Airport expansion deal was cancelled mid-way at huge cost to kenya taxpayers

Keroche did monkey business. Import chang’aa, pay excise, dilute it and not pay excise on the diluted chang’aa. KRA wanted duty on final product but she insisted on the undiluted chang’aa taxes alone. That’s how she racked up billions in duty. She was warned against this by KRA but she persisted using injunctions.  That’s how her chang’aa ended up dirt cheaper than competitors who played by the book.

There was a time she was targeted by parliament when EABL used to buy MPigs. The courts came to her aid. Then Babu got some tokens or shares and even went to launch a production line. I thought Keroche’s woes stemmed from this as Uhuruto cut Babu to size, but hey, it’s two years since handchieth and she is still in the red.

There is no malice here. She tried to be clever but she lost badly.

The court documents would shed more light on KRA arguments. The reports so far are shallow - even this investigative piece is pathetic. Jubile has successfully killed serious media through financial strangulation.
