Livelihoods have been wiped off. Economically, it is a wasteland stretching towards 2030 given most economies were heading down. Those with salaries are covering for the more vulnerable.
Now that govt is totally broke and cannot offer any relief to urban poor, there is need to lift the curfew or push it to 10 p.m to let those hustlers still floating to have more hours.
Two of my friends are telling me they are pleading with their tenants to pay. Cash is king right now, everybody is holding on to what they have if they have any.

I'm worried about the economy. I'm uncertain the world as we know it will bounce back.
People are turning into savages. No manners, no thank-you or please. Rampant racism. Some old white guy pushed his trolley into me the other day without apology. So I stopped his trolley with my hand and stared down at him. It was like staring at a zombie with no humanity. No point educating him so I touched his items in his trolley then walked away. The fcker looked terrified.
I'm compiling tips to counter savages:
1. Don't react to savages, this is Capitalism as my dear OO would say, deprogramming a consumer is like rehab for a drug addict. They'll scream and lash out at you and think that's normal. Beneath the veneer as dear OO warned, is violence, anarchy, a destructive culture that'll rear it's ugly head when capitalism fails and it's bound to fail.
2. Stock up on essential items, it's gonna be like this for few months to possibly years.
Any tips dearest comrades ?

@Veri - wah, the disruption will really reset our softwares positively and negatively. I had assumed we would become nicer to each other, seems we are for more isolation.
@Plato How now, isn't the weekly $600 unemployment supplement helping? In places like Githurai, Kibera - it is yet to reach there though they might start snatching shopping in the streets.
In Kenya I see people remaining in urban slums running to rural areas once the 21 days are over. It is going to be a tortorous windy journey.

I am not sure if the unemployment has started trickling. I have about 6 months of reserves and I will decide if to close shop and move back to my village

Six months plus is the best bet. 2020 is a wasted year. Kenyans were already on the economic/livelihood cliff and this is just the kick with no tangible support plan by the broke government.

Nairobi n coast isolation nor curfew will not end soon. Not with cases rising. Isolation will extend to Kiambu and Nakuru.
But I don't see the pandemic lasting beyond a couple of months. It's being hacked soon. Indicators are there.
About relief haven't chiefs been mapping out the deserving poorest? They got 75B from WB or IMF for covid-19 relief. It's just usual redtape and sluggard in GoK... food stumps are coming but not for the Nipate Lavington lot.
