Is this true? Apparently Trump is fighting the German govt for one of ther pharm companies Curevac that's working on a vaccine, asking them to develop it "For U.S. only"...Sounds fishy but I'm too desperate for the idea/possibility of a vaccine to brush it aside.

trump is an idiot. I think CUBA is close to coming up with one.

It happens when health becomes a transactional commodity, even in the middle of a health crisis. Is there anywhere else like that in the world?
-
From the article, Trump seems to vigorously bidding for the vaccine (which sounds as if its almost ready). I cannot fault him for his overriding responsibility is for US and US citizens. But of course i would expect him to make loads of money from it as US would have sole distribution and control of it.US would impose its conditions for anyone or any country in need of it. Like it has been doing forever.
But having said that, the article is from Guardian which was once very respectable leftist leaning newsmedia. Right now they have been obsessed/affected by TrumP Derangement Syndrome such that they would spin anything to make Trump looks bad.

It's certainly not defended elsewhere like it is by U.S libertarians. It is madness. Worshipping money as the Alpha and Omega.
Other people should straight-up disrespect and violate whatever IP bs they use to force other people to die so they can make money. I hope India is ready and on standby to repeat the anti-retrovirals copy thing. Shame on America for having such a vile president but even more, a vile philosophy that normalizes this madness.

Well, it's also being reported by the EU Politico as well as the Independent, and they all apparently got it from reports in local German papers:

I think they rejected the WHO test for similar reasons. Some big pharma forces in the US wanted to come up with their own for $100 per test.
-
That is obvious. There were already very reliable test in the market, but Trump and his big industry entourage decided to play pata potea with the lives of Americans and let a US manufactured test which gave out unreliable results. So weeks were lost and hardly anyone was tested for the virus in the US.

New American vaccine ready for testing on humans starting Monday:

If it's some ridiculous price, we will and should steal it ala antiretrovirals and by we, I of course mean the entire non-first world. It's not theft but a moral imperative.

Cuba has serious medical research capacity. It's health system is incredibly good despite decades of malicious sanctions by US. It is a fact known worldwide and reason even Kenya went to got Cuban doctors plus medical collaboration.
