Exactly a month living in Europe. Also the fiirst day I bought Avacado :) damn I love Avacados but I swore I'd never buy at 2-4 swiss francs. So here I am sitting with my favorite...guacamole with tortilla chips with of course mavoko time- whisky on ice...thinking what exactly is fun here? The winter is not bad (it more like my farm in Kiptangich) but when everything is said and done - this is boooooooooring. Yes there is development but this could kill you. Life is so automated - you are just one cog in huge machine timed to near perfection.Side note...European work ethic slightly better than Africa...nothing like I have seen the Yankees do. The swiss obviously polite and rich....but I'd die to live here. The upside...everywhere in Europe is like 30 dollars return ticket away...crazy. I swear I have not heard or seen anybody laugh or smile...unless on a rarity on a phone. No spontaneous happiness. Boredom can kill you here. I have more fun reading my kenya whatsapp group and friends in Nairobi than this. The machine or computers basically run everything....hiring a human is so damn expensive...everything has been automated..but eventually I think humanbeing also become part of machine...dehumanized. The only occasional happiness is from tourist..mostly american teenagers coming to ski or whatever they do in mountains. To imagine the fun people in Nairobi or Kericho are having now...cheap beef and avacados..make me very sad. I definitely don't want to live here for long.

It's culture shock. Give it time.

Culture shock. But home always the best. Europeans, simply the so called West is full of dehumanised humans. Robotic even. With predictable everything. No surprises.
Having been around, If I was to live anywhere apart from Kenya outside Africa, it has to be Australia. Loved the place. Still do.

Aussie summer will kill you. Boiling cultural pots like Amsterdam are good fun. In summer you meet all sorts there - Americans, Naijas, Indians, Arabs, Chinese, name it. 24^7 lifestyle. Not sure coronavirus will allow this year. The rest of Europe like Marseilles French town can be a dead bore.
Europe and most of the west - Japs, Koreans - are only livened or cheered up by migrants and tourists. Deadbeat, politically sanitized automatons.

We need to have a welcome party for @RVP...From Mavoko to Swiss I am sure he is seeing 'dust'l

Geneva is so expensive.. find a way to USA preferably California tech hub or MIT. I would never live in EUROPE.
Stop drinking or you will lose your life soon. Kalenjins cannot handle isolation of the west. Most of your guys become ranging alcoholics that end up doing a lot of time in Jail
One of the guys I know from Kericho is such a drunk that anytime we have tried to rehab him he goes back. He is still talking of going back to farm. The only farm is going is a swamp we burry these penniless kenyans in

Welcome Pundit to Europe. You are lucky this winter is very mild. Never experienced such a mild winter. I only saw snow once and that only for a few hours. Some years back I remember we had winder from end November till mid March.
All the same it is good to see you are making many observations. The Swiss are very extreme Europeans. Go to Italy and you will feel more at home. Traffic jams, drivers hooting and streets littered.
We will keep in touch. Geneva is very far from where I live.
