I heard really chilling stories from a guy still in uni when this guy was SONU chair. It involved someone's death even then. I hope he's not allowed to get away with it.

He didn't die, thank God. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001356890/dj-shot-by-babu-owino-in-stable-condition
Babu is going to jail. This is the Hajj era.

What he did is dangerous on many levels.  I think he tried to shoot the guy in the head and missed hitting him in the neck instead.  That could have killed someone else in the vicinity.  IEBC was supposed to weed these sorts of characters, but here we are.

I am curious about what he did in college when he was in SONU.

I think a better sentence would be to hand him over to the DJs relatives and let them decide what to do with him.

IEBC is only a part of the problem; the other (and probably bigger) part is the voters, especially the youth, many of whom will see this as "heroic" or "admirable" in some way.   In today's Kenya the only difference between this guy and most "leading" politicians is that he has not yet learned to delegate when it comes to low-level thuggery.   Otherwise, as Kibaki would say, kazi iendelee.

He contrived, mostly by foul means, to endlessly stay as leader of SONU and to engage in numerous questionable (and most likely criminal) activities.

Haji has certainly been a busy and "dramatic" fellow.   But how many of his "flashy" cases have ended up with jail for anyone?   How many are even heard of after the initial media circus?

Did you notice a Kalashinkov lying on the table ?

He will plead self defense and in the spirit of Handchieth he will walk free. If he was in tanga tanga he would have been skinned alive and this publicly.

That.   Or the victim and witnesses will be paid off, and nobody will remember anything.

What are you guys debating? This is a regular occurrence and not newsworthy.

I agree, but up to a point.  This character is a bit special.  It's not like the DJ was about to reveal something damaging to his career or anything.  It seems to have been at worst just a drunken argument.  This dude will be shooting random people in the street if Baba becomes President.

Why IF baba becomes president?  He is shooting people now and apparently killed someone before.  This dude has some serious demons and it has nothing to do with Baba.  We all knew there was something off with this dude. I could never put a finger on it. White collar crimes are hard to prosecute but this is easy for Haji to prosecute quickly and send him to jail.  Obado's is a little complicated because there were no videos.

Termie, it was p much along the lines of what Pundit posted, except the stories I heard included things like him running a mafia-ish squad in campus (that killed someone on his orders and srsly bullied/intimidated/tortured quite a bunch and got away with it. I never fully believed it coz I didnt see how he was allowed to get away with that behaviour by rowdy uni students but now...Idk. They maybe exaggerated but theres some truth to it given how easily he shot someone in a crowd). He's just a bad dude with a capita B.

Apparently the two are friends, and they were just horsing around.    :D

Quote
According to Ombeta, the “two friends,” Babu and the DJ, were chitchatting while having fun when the DJ teased the legislator, asking if he really had a gun on him.  He said Babu drew his gun, not realising that he had held the trigger because he was intoxicated, sending a bullet into the DJ's neck

And the money is flowing

Quote
Mr Ombeta said the legislator had paid a Sh600,000 hospital bill for DJ Evolve, who is said to be recuperating well at Nairobi Hospital after surgery in his neck.  “Babu sent his wife the amount and she paid the hospital bill. He will continue paying the bills until the patient recovers,” said Mr Ombeta.

Anything for a friend, and of course

“Charges are hard to determine since the victim is still in hospital. The status of the patient will play a key role in preferring charges, whether assault, grievous harm, attempted murder or misuse of a firearm,” he said.

Regular Kenyans work hard and struggle daily while these goons get by like they own the world.
I miss the old days when these goons were not paid millions.
