Title: Too late for referendum
Post by: RV Pundit on November 29, 2019, 09:40:26 AM
Talking about BBI 3 months.
Drafting a bill 3 months.
Signature collections 6 months.
IEBC verification 3months.
CA debate 3 months.
Senate 3 months.
Parliament 3 months.
IEBC preparations 8 months.
That already 32 months.. exactly August 2022 and we haven't factored Judicial injunction or parliament sitting on the bill.

Best way for ODM, focus on Boundaries review in 2020, kick out IEBC in 2021 and prepare for 2022 elections.

Squeze the little parliament can offer BBI..like renaming Duale job to PM..forget about counties getting more money and less functions ( health services commission).

Forget about real reforms against graft thro mpigs.

I thought Ruto already endorsed BBI?  What is your problem?

Pundit if possible don't mint a 000 threads on post-BBI... my take is Ruto looks deadbeat. If he has prevailed he would look happy and energized. He is depressed cause this is BBI 1.0 and you need to hold on - don't count your chics yet.

dead-on! Whatever Amollo is trying here, he has an enemy in time. This abstract thing has to go to Bunge to produce any functional results...Duale  :) is waiting eagerly to drive the bill to "his chicken pen...". BBI report is a Sundry of Grievances and list of RAO's "My I'd rathers". This is not shxt you take a referendum. Refs are simple straight forward exercise with up or down results.

Along with the Time factor, another important callout is the reality that a lame duck president will command lesser authority to persuade. As you hinted here, the BBI circus could be crowded with judiciary "skits" in the background of a weaker presidency. Now, do not second guess what a court decision could do to BBI if it comes to that...it can be anything.

Let's prepare for charged atmosphere.
